In December 1997, a team led by Prof. Mohamed Rela performed successful liver transplantation on a five-day-old girl, which gave him an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2000. She is now a 20-year-old law student.
Prof. Mohamed Rela has performed over 4000 liver transplant surgeries.
Prof. Mohamed Rela started the Institute of Liver Disease and Transplantation at Global Gleneagles Health City.
